Newest Novel
Ok, my book-on-tape (CD) had a nice change of pace from "Norvelt" (which has taken me forever to read). So far, it's my favorite book I've read so far only because it's right up my genre alley...Historical Fiction! Crispin, The Cross of Lead by Avi, is the first of it's series and I could not be more pleased with my Crispin experience so far. It had me hooked from the first chapter. I'm about half way through and I'm very excited to know there are a few books to follow.
To summarize, this is a story of a young boy, known as Astor's son (in the beginning of the book), who lives in a medieval village in England circa 1390s. Raised by his pauper mother and disdained by the entire village, Astor's son knows no other life but this one. That is until his mother dies and he is plunged into a world of despair, fear and a life on the run. And it all seems to have to do with who he doesn't know he is and what he doesn't know about his father. Yet to get to that part, but, like I said, I'm hooked so far!
